Finding the Perfect Gym - Lesson 3
Glad to see you are still with me…
It’s time for your third and final lesson. I hope you found lesson two informative.
Okay - let’s talk about a few more things you should consider before you commit to a gym.
In the last lesson we talked about equipment and cleanliness, but I forgot to mention the importance of organization. After all your ability to focus on your exercise routine is very important to your overall success, so don’t want to be tripping over weights that are lying on the floor or feel closed in and cramped in a crowed area.
Make sure that the gym provides you with a full tour of their facilities, so that you can see for yourself how the equipment arranged, if there is plenty of room for you to workout as well as all of the things, like cleanliness that we’ve discussed in the last couple of days.
Don’t be shy either. Ask to meet the trainers and be sure to ask questions like:
Will they show you how the equipment works? When is the gym the most crowded? Do they sanitize the machines? Are there showers and other amenities available? Do you have to sign a contract? Do they offer a free or reduced trial period?
A gym that offers a trial period is usually a good idea. That way you can check out the gym’s space and decide if it is right for you.
The last thing you should check out are the prices. Some gym memberships require that you pay by the year while others charge your credit card or send you an invoice every month. Some gyms will require that you sign a contract. If they do be sure to read it carefully. Find out exactly what they require from you and what happens if you cancel your membership before your contract expires.
When considering joining a gym look at the ones closest to your home or work depending on your schedule, but don’t eliminate the ones that are a bit farther away as they may be worth the extra dive if they have more to offer.
The most important thing to remember is to what works best for you. You may end up spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on your gym membership, so it is important to find the gym that best suits your needs.
Good luck finding the perfect gym. I hope that I have been able to help you make a wise and informed decision.
